Ans Bakker
With a background as a window-dresser at the Bijenkorf, she studied Theatre Design at Utrecht School of the Arts, after which she set up as an artist/decorator/’beautifyer’. She worked as an art director and stylist at large events for almost 10 years. After this period she has thrown herself into visual and applied art. Fascinated by stories, Ans Bakker succeeds in turning them into visual objects and installations. Her ‘Celestial Nests’ and glass and felt installations ‘My Heaven’ manifest this. Visitors are invited to experience the rooms and take part in her symbolic journeys.

Ans Bakker works with various materials. By working glass and combining it with other materials, she succeeds in turning these ‘hard’ materials into soft treats for the eye. Her chandeliers of blown glass are fanciful and graceful.
